Within my home there is a Queen
The like of which no man has seen
For beauty, pride, and regal mien.
As Queen she will demand the best
And blatantly from all will wrest
Whatever pleases royal breast.
And blatantly from all will wrest
Whatever pleases royal breast.
Hence anywhere she wills to sleep,
On couch or chair with cushion deep,
She claims for hers with graceful leap.
On couch or chair with cushion deep,
She claims for hers with graceful leap.
And with a scornful pointed stare
Casts out the peon sitting there
Her throne with no one will she share.
Casts out the peon sitting there
Her throne with no one will she share.
Should some unwary imbecile
Dare to thwart her sovereign will
Her look alone is fit to kill.
Dare to thwart her sovereign will
Her look alone is fit to kill.
But in Her Gracious Majesty
Is one peculiarity:
For humans, geniality;
For fellow cats, ferocity!

What? No crown? :-)
Nope. She's afraid it might detract from the tip of her tail, of which she is inordinately proud. She jumped in the fish pond once trying to catch a bird taking a bath on a lily pad. She was humiliated to the dust and refused to be seen until that tail was dried and beautiful again. Crazy critter!
